Most boring.......
We are supposed to have an almost record high today. Ya-freakin-hoo. For sure I will have to get out there with the dog. The little monkey is napping on my special anniversary quilt right now. How did he get so spoiled? I'm guessing the same way my daughter did! ;-)
Just made plans to go for a latte with a friend. Haven't had one in over a week. Because friend has been out of town. Can't wait - it will be so tasty! Skinny caramel latte, here I come!
Not much else on the agenda for today. Still not going to count points today. Still going to right it down.
Have a healthy day bloggers.

oh, ya.....
seriously, today isn't Thursday?
So, who has seen the trailer for the new Underworld movie?? (http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/underworldriseofthelycans/)
OMG - it looks SO good - I can hardly stand the wait. First Harry Potter, now this......
I had my swim class today - no one else showed up so I had a private lesson. I'm exhausted. You sure work a lot harder when there is no one else for the teacher to focus on!! The worst part (or best, depending how you look at it) was that I had gone to the Club early for a run on the treadmill (which I totally rocked!), and then after I had some toast in the cafeteria I had extra time, so I went to the pool early to practice!! I looked like a prune by the time I was done!! I must have done a billion lengths!
I'm still journaling and making healthy food choices, but haven't been counting points. I need a teeny break. I'm experimenting with not having every single waking moment obsessing over food. Really, as long as I'm thinking when I'm making my food choice that should be enough, right??
Oh, as I have mentioned, I had my high school reunion in May in Montreal. The fellow from our school that organized it engaged his admin lady to help with the details. This weekend she was gunned down in Toronto - just an innocent bystander - outside a bar having a smoke. I feel just sick. This girl was only 23. 23. I never even met her, but I still feel overcome with sorrow. Her poor family. So very senseless.
On that rather sad note, have a healthy day bloggers.

Blogging Blues
I feel like my life is in a rut. I'm really tired of watching what I eat. Or maybe I'm tired of talking about it. Yes, that may be it.
I have to bowl today at 1:00 for a friend. I kinda wish I hadn't said yes. I had my weight training class this morning. It was a good one.
My sister got married on the weekend. It was a nice wedding.
Not much else going on.
Peace out.

I'm a loser!
Belly dance was a hoot again last night. She had us dancing the whole class last night. No choreography or anything. Just moves. Lots and lots of moves. So much fun. Thankfully the "jazz dancer" lady was away and so I was able to concentrate on me in the mirror. Which sounds conceited, but you have to see what your body is doing to see if you're doing the move. Jazz Dancer is so raunchy when she dances, it is hard to look away. Like a car accident, but worse.
Took a friend for a birthday breakfast yesterday with another friend. It was fun. We sat forever in the restaurant chatting and then the two of them looked at each other and said "Starbucks?". In the end, I never got home from breakfast until lunch time. It was a nice. Good girl time.
Run on the agenda for today. Not much else. Banking. Groceries. Hummmmm drummmmm. Might go for drinks with a friend I haven't seen in months. Just waiting for the e-mail. I have 8 new crock pot recipes to try this week. When the weather gets cold, I crave my crock pot!
Did anyone else cry like a baby at CSI last night?? I'm going to miss that yummy Warrick.

Drinking Water = Binging??
When I drink a lot of water, I feel full (like stuffed full). When I feel that kind of full, it used to be (and sometimes still is) because I had gone off plan. Which usually lead me to the whole "well, I've blown it now so I should keep eating" stage. Well, it turns out that I get those same urges even when I'm only full of water. Obviously I need to get past it, but until I do, I have to be careful to drink water, but not too much.
I'm already dressed for the gym so I can drop daughter at bus and then go right to the treadmill. It will be nice to have it out of the way.
I am so sore from my work out yesterday. Can I share it with you guys? Go get a pen and write it down. You will never again have an excuse to not work your muscles!!
Warm up by stepping in place.
Do 6 sets of the following: 30 seconds of squats, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 to 3 minutes of running in place (or marching if your knees hurt)
Do 6 sets of the following: 30 seconds push ups, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 to 3 minutes of running in place (or marching if your knees hurt)
Do 6 sets of the following: 30 seconds alternating lunges, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 to 3 minutes of running in place (or marching if your knees hurt)
Do 6 sets of the following: 30 seconds sit ups, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 to 3 minutes of running in place (or marching if your knees hurt)
Do 6 sets of the following: 30 seconds sumo squats, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 to 3 minutes of running in place (or marching if your knees hurt)
Do 4 sets of the following: 30 seconds front plank on elbows, 30 seconds rest
Do 2 sets of the following: 30 seconds side plank (one on each side), 30 seconds rest
Running in place can also be bum kicks, mountain climbers, ski hop, running stairs, anything that gets your heart up a bit.
Let me tell you - I am sore everywhere today. And no equipment required!!

The Low Down
I'm not buying organic next time though - buying from a local farm is good enough. I think all that boiling would get rid of any pesticides anyway (wink wink). Plus, organic is just too expensive. Canada doesn't regulate what organic is yet, and so my organic stuff could have been grown next to a non-organic farm, which would contaminate it anyhow.....all that to say, I'm too cheap and don't care enough.
Swimming class yesterday left me tired and thirsty. Hence the attempt to get my water in. Drinking too much water leads to binging for me though. My cut off is 1 litre throughout the day.
Weight training class today was a total hoot. All body weight exercises. Fun times. Hurt like hell, but a good hurt. Husband made me go to the gym again tonight so he could work his legs. I just walked on the treadmill for 2.5k. Was still too full from dinner to run, plus I have a run scheduled for tomorrow.
I'm done work now till next Wednesday. Wooohooooo!!!!!!!
Hope you're all having a great day

proper re-cap of my week
So, fitness this week included my weight training class, runs on the treadmill, belly dance and curling.
I'm happy with the weight training class - I like the new set up and I've increased my weights. I'm really trying to make sure that I give it my all. When I was working with the personal trainer, I had no choice but to give it my all. It is easier to hide in a class. I have to be mindful of that.
Running has been good. I have increased my speed. I'm doing 5:1's and am drenched when I'm done, so it feels like a good effort. I'm going to try to remember to wear my heart rate monitor. I'm only doing 30 minutes though. I want to get to a 30 minute 5k.
Belly dance was so much fun this week. The teacher has come up with a great method for teaching the class and we were working the whole class. And she ended it with some impromptu dancing. It was great. I have to remember to send her an e-mail to tell her how great the new format is.
Curling. Yikes. First off, didn't realize until after Belly Dance Thursday night that we even had to curl yesterday. I ran into two glitches. I don't know if you all remember, but on vacation in August (my first weekend on vacation, actually - so Aug 1), I twisted my ankle. Well, it is still sorish. When I came out of the hack, I drag with the foot I twisted. I didn't realize until then that my ankle still doesn't stretch that way. OMG - it hurt so bad. And then this week I slept on my wrist funny or something and I've had trouble moving it. Well, of course it is the hand I throw the rock with. It hurt so bad to do the curl. I thought I'd have to beg off the game! Sheesh. We lost the game, but had fun.
Husband & I were going to go to the gym first thing, but we slept in this morning!! So, we will go around 8 tonight, when it is nice and quiet. I'm just going to run. Husband is going to work his legs.
Next week I only work on Tuesday! Woo hoo!! Then I just work Wednesdays after Thanksgiving until my other project is done. Sweet freakin deal, eh??
I have been having so much trouble keeping up with the challenge blogs. At one point I had over 100 entries just from them to read. So, if any challengers are reading - I'm with you all in spirit even if I don't have a chance to comment!!
Tonight we are going to bbq a pork loin on the spit. I'm going to marinate it in homemade by moi jerk spice. Yum.

Sunday Chili Party
My family (aunts, cousins, parents) will be over for chili tonight. Chili is done. Serving with brown rice, whole wheat buns, light ceasar salad.
Spent most of the day today either cooking or cleaning. I may have a quick nap.
Likely won't exercise today. Knees need a rest.

The Wedding
I managed the buffet quite well. The food was so good. So good. Eating before I went really helped. When the food came out and I could smell it, I didn't get ravenous like I normally would. I had a spoon of ceasar salad, 2 slices of bacon, a spoon of potatoes. Oh, and two slices of cheese. The cheese slices were actualy quite small. I passed on quiche, two kinds of eggs benedict, roast beef, ham, french toast...and other goodies I can't think of now. Instead of cake they had a cupcake tree. I had a bite of husbands. It was nice. Oh, and only 1 glass of wine.
Anyhow, husband & I are off to the gym tonight. Him to hit the weights, and I'm going to hit the treadmill. I think I really need to up my cardio to get my 2.8lbs off. I'm doing two days of weights - I think that is enough for now. Intense cardio. Intense cardio.....maybe if I say it enough......

Wedding Prep
Yesterday I ended up going to the gym at 7:00 to run on the treadmill. I ran my fastest yet. Man, was my face red when I was done - it felt good. I did 30 minutes. Earned 4 AP points. Which I didn't eat. Mostly just cause it was so late. Anyhow, I made it through that disastrous weigh - I only ate 21 points out of 22. Didn't throw myself into crap eating . One day down. Today to go.
More later, after the wedding, so I'm accountable......

Week 1 - :-(
Looking back at the week, I went wrong as follows:
* overall I had more days off program than on
* I'm a stress eater and have been stressed this week - clearly I still have to work on this issue
* I like to self sabotage. This week was no different. I was worried about weighing in this morning and then last night I did everything in my power to ensure a gain this morning - including 4 glasses of wine & popcorn to ensure maximum water retention.
The only positive I can find in all of this is: while I was self sabotaging I didn't use more flex than I had.
I was talking to husband this morning. Told him how I was having trouble staying on program. He said what can I do to help. Sadly, he is already super supportive, so I told him nothing. EXCEPT - don't let me use the wedding I have tomorrow morning or the family chili party (more stress) I'm hosting Sunday as excuses to not eat properly. He said he would. Thank goodness I have this man in my life.
Well, I have to get daughter to school.

Nervous
This is exactly why I needed the challenge though - I need to accountability.
Full body weight class was a hoot this morning. I upped my weights from Tuesday's class and I totally rocked it. My girlfriend's heart monitor said we burned over 400 calories. That is better than a kick in the ass, eh?
Was anyone else disappointed with who got knocked out of DWTS last night? I found that fellow quite entertaining (funny) and not a bad little dancer. What a joke that Cloris Leechman is still there, or Kim K for that matter. Sheesh.
Tonight I have belly dance. I can't wait. I'm bringing in all my hip scarves for the new girls to try. Class is so much more fun if you jingle, plus it is easier to let everything shake when it is covered by a pretty scarf!!
I am out of my mind excited for Grey's to start tonight. I will have to tape it though, cause of belly dance. Daughter, that little brat, is not going to wait for me to watch it with her. I should give her away.
So, I started a new WW week yesterday. Last week recap - I was over and still struggled with keeping to my daily points. I will continue my efforts there, and I would also like to have more activity points in the week. I may have to add a run in....

Overwhelmed!
Still OP.
I really don't like what I think is the brown team on BL. The couple that lost the most last week? Really, really, really don't like them.
No time to type - I have over 50 entries to read!
Have a great rest of the day!

Before Picture
Monday and a missed swim class
I'm a nervous eater. Always have been. Likely always will be. I was feeling the stress of the father visit (I didn't grow up with him, and so I don't know him well) and I compensated with the wrong foods. I should have cut up some veggies and munched away. Or gone for a walk. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Today, the stress is still there, but I am making a conscious effort to not munch it away. Mostly 'cause I have to report to you guys, and one of our challengers has already reported an obscenely high weight loss. Guess the challenge is on.
Didn't take my starting picture cause we got busy. I got my hair cut yesterday. I think it looks cute, but husband may think it is too short. Oh, well. In any case, I will take it after I post this and upload it later.
Mmm, not much else on the go. Goal today is 22 daily target points and 1/2 of any activity points I earn. Which should be 4.
I have a terrible kink in my neck this morning. I think I need a massage.
Have an on program, on point healthy day bloggers!

Quiet Sunday
So, even though Sparky had some really, really sound advice about the Bailey's, I decided to stop at the 1/2 bottle. Sadly, I am now sitting here trying not to think about the other 1/2!
So, we are supposed to tell everyone about the things we try to "get away with" when we are on our lifestyle change journey. My thing is: after I've had a day that was off program (for me that means I ate more points than I had), I have trouble staying on program (for me that means eating the proper amount of points) for the rest of the WW week. Case in point, last night. I don't know how many pts are in 1/2 a bottle of Baileys, but for sure it was more than the flex I had left. This means now, today and Monday and Tuesday I only have my daily points target points to eat.
So, for the challenge, maybe I should report the # of points I eat each day. Might help keep me on track better? Couldn't be worse, I suppose!
I will try to remember to take a before picture later with my daughter. If I post it, it will be on my picture sight though.
Have a healthy, on program, on points day today bloggers!!

Good Lord!
Saturday
I have an obscene amount of housework to do in prep for my dad coming. Ugh.
Nice day today - will try to get puppy out for a walk. He is much, much better. Phew!
All of my lullu's are dirty - that means that I had a great week of workouts! It also means that my husband better get on the laundry...
Tomorrow I'm not working out. I think my knees (and quite frankly the rest of my body) need the break. Plus, I think 6 days of workout is more than enough.
Not much else to report today. I'm quite excited about the challenge. I have been having so much trouble sticking to my points. It is so silly too - I was 3 lbs away from my goal. 3 lbs. Now I'm 10 lbs away. But not for long ;-). Moving forward, not looking back anymore. This challenge is all about moving forward. Officially, I am now all about moving forward also.
Have a healthy, happy, on program day bloggers!!

New Challenge
I decided to join the challenge at the above link. I need to get my mojo back, and I think this might help. I'm really, really having trouble sticking to my points. Anyhow, the challenge is still taking participants until Sunday if any of you are interested.....
Had a ball at belly dance last night. What a great class. We worked hard and just gave 'er the whole hour. Fun, fun times.
Still haven't run yet today.....perhaps after dinner. It is nice out again today. It is supposed to be crappy next week. Bummer.
I have to get my menu planned out for next week. My dad arrives Monday and I have to work - I need to have my shit together or I will be eating like crap!!
Short post. Have a healthy, happy, on program day!!
PS: Puppy doing even better today, although he is very, very sleepy. All those nights up scratching must have tired him out!! Poor muffin.

Finding the music
My puppy will be ok. It was an allergic reaction, but we don't know to what. Had to get some Children's Benedryl - could only find bubblegum flavoured. Turns out puppy doesn't like bubblegum. Ugh. Anyhow, he has settled down a bit, and I feel confident I will be able to find a way to get the Benedryl into him. Could have been the shampoo from grooming - day care now knows he "sensitive" and they will use special oatmeal shampoo on him. We had also purchased a different kind of treat. We will stop giving them to him. They were peanut butter flavoured. He has had PB before, but....Don't know what else it could have been. I keep asking him, but he won't tell.
Off to belly dance tonight. Can't wait.
Daughter & I have been watching last season of Grey's to get in the mood for the new season. Should be able to get an episode or two in tonight. Fun times.
Well bloggers. Have a healthy on program evening!
PS: I did go for my run last night. Didn't "feel" as good as Monday, but I did run 0.2km/hr faster!! Run on the schedule again for tomorrow.

Biggest Loser and other ramblings
Walk last night was fun. A short on - one hour - very hilly. Helped work out the owies from the weight training class.
Was supposed to work today but had to cancel - puppy needs to go to the vet - he has been scratching so bad his eyes are puffy and he has worn part of his eye brows off (he's a schnauzer, so they are long, but now are patchy). Poor little muffin. He either has fleas (which I doubt because he has treatment to prevent that), or he is allergic to something....so sad.
Of course, now I'm really worried because I just love him so much - I feel like I'm jinxing him.....I'm crazy, right??
I'm going to sign up for the Santa Shuffle Run again this year. It was a fun one last year and we got a free subway sandwich when it was over. Cool beans! Sparky - you should sign up ;-) It is only 5k, not timed (unless you bring your Garmin) and the T-Shirts are cute. Plus, who doesn't love running in the snow at -20 degrees??
I pick up my new lullulemons from hemming today. Can't wait. I need more pants so badly - the one pair I have now I can't keep up! I figure I can still loose a size, but it is hard to keep motivated when your pants are all big.
I have to run today. It is supposed to be gorgeous again today. Life doesn't get better than that, does it - running in nice weather?
Well bloggers, have a healthy, on program day. I will, I will, I will stick to my eating plan.

REALLY quick post...
Not much in other news. Started swim class yesterday - teacher didn't seem pleased to see me again. Maybe she thinks I should know how to swim already. Whatever.
Weight training teacher couldn't get the music going AGAIN today. If it happens Thursday I may have a stroke. ;-)
Rushed home from work to make some borscht. Only to have daughter call to say she wouldn't be home for supper. Brat.
Going for walk with walking group tonight. We are meeting early, because it is getting dark earlier. Sure is nice out today though - should be a pleasant walk.
Hope all is going well with everyone. I'm still struggling.......Blech....

Belly Dance, oh, how I've missed you!
I was also grumpy because I was still unbelievably sore from Tuesday's workout. Really, really sore. Guess it was effective...
I started back at belly dance last night. Gosh - I really didn't realise how much I missed it. I'm so happy to be back at it.
Still haven't run. I suck.
I have 3 coffee dates today. 3. Isn't that insane? I will get my calcium in today!! I see a Grande Skinny Caramel Latte in my near future....dare I say it....maybe two?????
I'm going to the football game tonight - a challenge to be sure - since we will be in the box. I have lots of flex, but I also have a bridal shower on Sunday to go to. Budget time.
So, my contract at work has been extended. I'm kinda excited about it. I really, really like the lady I'm working for.
Well, I'm off to coffee #2. Have a healthy on program day bloggers!!

Fall Blues
Haven't felt much like blogging, so I didn't. I actually felt like it was making me feel worse about things. Just another thing I "had" to do.
Started my weight training class yesterday morning. Had the whole family at the Club by 6:15 yesterday morning. We all worked out before we went on with our day. Will do that again tomorrow. You all remember that my trainer, who ran this class, left the Club. We had new teacher yesterday. The class was good (I can hardly move today I'm so sore), but I don't know how I felt about the teacher herself. Doesn't have the same spark. Guess I will just have to suck it up.
I have been wanting to start running again forever, but I still haven't. I know it is going to hurt. Ugh. Maybe today will be the day.
Husband surprised me with a new pair of yoga pants and a new top from lullulemon yesterday. I have to have them hem the pants. It only takes a few days. Good service there.
Well bloggers. I'm off to catch up on your lives. Have a healthy on program day!

* I have a walk planned again tomorrow, followed by breakfast with the girls

Boring post ahead - readers beware
Tonight the walking group wants to do hills. Yikes - I'm sure that will hurt. Didn't weigh in today at lunch time since daughter was at home waiting for me to get home from work so we could lunch together. Have everything set up to weigh in tomorrow with friend. Still planning on not looking at my weight.
Hmmmm, sadly, I have nothing else to report. I still have a head cold and feel like crap.

Feeling sick
Went for a walk with the girls last night - we did 9.48k, I think. I haven't downloaded my garmin yet. Anyhow, I burned over 500 calories. I had intended to have a beer when I got back - but I got home and no longer wanted one. Weird. Anyhow - had a good on program day. In the end, I only ate a potato & a corn on the cob for dinner. Yum. Turns out the sausage I had was chicken - I prefer pork.
Beef stir fry with rice on the menu for this evening. I only have one steak, so it will be heavy on the veggies! Of course, I'm sure my left over sausage will make it into the mix!
I have an exterminator over right now - getting rid of a wasp nest. Or a hornet nest, the dude said - like the difference matters to me! Anyhow, it is one of the largest nests I've ever seen. I can't imagine how he will get rid of it - better him than me!! What is kind of pissy is that it will cost in between $125 and $150! It is so expensive because the next is at the very top of our house....bummer.
Well bloggers, have a healthy on program day!

Blah, blah, blah Part II
I had a good day yesterday. Stayed on plan AND exercised. Woohoo.
Went to the bookstore yesterday and bought two new books. Can't wait to get to them. I just finished another book, by a new author I tried. The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz...I enjoyed it. At first, the writing style confused me, but a few pages in...it was ok. If you enjoy the Janet Evanovich books, I think you would like this.
Hmmm, what is on the agenda today. Oh, ya, I have to register my baby for grade 11 today. How the hell did that happen?? Goodness. After that I suspect I will be wallowing....
On the fitness front I have a walk planned with my walking group. We usually walk around 1.5 hours...that will be good for some points.
On the food front - just going to be on plan today. One day at a time. Italian sausage, tossed salad and baked potato for supper planned. Yummmmm.
Oh! Yesterday while buying daughter's agenda I purchased some happy face stickers to put in my journal for the days I exercise. I realize this is really juvenile, but....for me it works.
Have a healthy day bloggers!!

Blah, blah, blah
Had my weight training class this morning. Teacher didn't show, so the fill in did the same program as last week. Blech.
Took daughter shopping today. I hate shopping. Managed to get everything in an hour and a half. Still have school supplies, but don't have the list yet. I did buy myself a purse, (http://canada.roots.com/Village-Bag-in-Vintage-Tribe-Leather/829872017783,default,pd.html?cgid=leatherFlatBags&selectedColor=2402). I'm really excited about it.
Eh. Not much else. Spent the weekend at the in-laws in BC. I am so emotionally drained after seeing those people. They suck the joy out of the air, just like the dementors from Harry Potter. My puppy was REALLY happy to see me, and seems quite happy to be home. I am certainly happy to have him back. He is helping to restore the joy. Little cutie patootie.
Well bloggers, have a healthy day!!

I'm...really....having a hard getting into a routine...
Ugh. I'm in too much of a rut to even type. Later bloggers!!
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Ouch, it hurts when I do this.....
Oh, I meant to tell you all about a book I read on vacation. I always buy books from the discount bin at Chapters to try new authors. I picked one up and a staffer came over to tell me that it was actually the 2nd book in a series, and took me over to the first book. Of course, the first book was $19 and the 2nd book I had picked up was $7.99. Well, I decided to take a chance and bought both. The first was worth the $$ - I loved it. It was by Christopher Moore, and it was called Bloodsucking Fiends. It is a book about a gal that gets turned into a vampire. Some parts were so funny. Anyhow, if any of you are looking for a good library recommendation......
I have a walk planned for today. It is raining out right now...but I think it is supposed to clear up. In any case, I can just throw a hat on.....I found a good walking program in a magazine while I was in Montreal, and I meant to pdf it to myself before I left but I forgot - I have to remember to get my girlfriend to send it to me.....when she does, I will, of course, share it with you all.
Tomorrow is tattoo day!! Then I have to go out of town right away......I will do my best to post a picture before I go......I'm quite excited about it, and quite scared. I hate needles. Oy!!
Have a healthy day bloggers!!

Back in the Saddle....AGAIN
I have spaghetti on the menu for tonight with meatless crumbles. I can't wait - I love spaghetti. For lunch I am having left overs from last night. I have left over tossed salad and 1/2 chicken breast. I'm going to make a wrap out of it. Yum.
I'm going to start yoga today. Not a class or anything, just a pose or two here on my own. I have a YogaJournal with a good at home routine in it. I need to loosen up my leg muscles, and I think it would be nice to spend 20 minutes or so with some quiet time. I'm going to browse iTunes for some calming music to listen to while I do it....any one have a suggestion?
I still have 200 blog entries to read. I will likely not be doing a lot of commenting....just trying to catch up on everyone. I think I'm going to go through my subscriptions also. I have a lot of blogs that I read, but am never moved to comment on....so I may cull some. Certainly wouldn't hurt to spend LESS time sitting around reading! HA!
Not much else to report today. Have a healthy day bloggers!!

Man, I'm tired!
I have groceries in the house again. Felt good to be back in control of what is being cooked (we stayed with a friend & her family). We had souvlaki spiced chicken on the bbq, grilled asparagus & tossed salad. I pan fried some potatoes for hubby & daughter. Mmmm, it was so tasty! I have had a billion glasses of water today, it is so hot out. I just can't cool off.
I think I'm weighing in tomorrow at WW (just waiting to hear from girlfriend). Not stepping on the scale till then. Started back counting points today. Not going on about how much I ate or drank on holidays. Just going to get my nose back to the grindstone. I have my weight training classes, which I will start back with on Wednesday. I missed this a.m. because daughter had volleyball camp and it was the first day - they had to be there a half hour early, so I had a time conflict. Who has a time conflict at 7:30 a.m. their first day back from vacation???????
What else. Oh, we rented a condo in Mont Tremblant (Gray Rocks Resorts). OMG - it was so friggen awesome!!!! If we go back to Montreal for vacay again next year - we will likely rent it again for a whole week. We just went up for 3 days. There was so much to do, and it was so pretty.
I'm not going to write much. I have over 200 blog entries to catch up on....and I have quite a bad headache from the heat (or it could be wine withdrawal.....not sure ;0)
Glad to be back - I've missed you all!!

Really Quick
Stayed on plan better than I would have had I not known I had to report back to you.
Lunch - would have been Chinese from Tiki Ming, but was a 6" turkey sub on wheat instead - thanks to you guys! I was famished by the time I got home though - I think I'm expending a lot of calories because I am so cold at work - my fingers are almost purple by the end of the day!
Workout - would never have happened, but when husband woke up from his after dinner nap at 7:30 - I asked him if he wanted to go to the gym - and I did weights (upped all my weights this go around - it felt great!) and 20 minutes hard on the bike - thanks to you guys!
Stayed on plan - except - I finished off the bottle of Bailey's that we had - that stuff is like crack for me - I told husband next time I ask to buy it to remind me of that fact. I cannot have it in the house.
Gotta run - have a healthy day bloggers!!
PS: I WILL be on plan today!

Oy!
I got my hair cut and coloured today. Feels good to have my bangs out of my eyes. I also went for a massage. Feels good to have the knots out of my back.
Bloggers. I cannot have any more days not exactly on plan. I have worked so hard, and I am sabotaging myself like crazy!! Today was also not a good day. You know what it is like the day after a lot of alcohol. UGH!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow, after supper I will post that I stayed on plan. I will, I will, I will.

NSV at Italian Restaurant tonight
1/2 of a 1/2 order of gnocchi with tomato sauce - 4pts
1 cup minestrone soup - 4pts
1/2 slice of cheese toast - 3pts
accidental ingestion of 1/2 of warm bun brought while waiting for soup - 2pts (I forgot about the cheese toast we had ordered - oops!)
Leaving the restaurant without feeling like a stuffed pig - priceless
Yay me!!
Had a very productive day at work today. While I toiled away doing the project I had been contracted to do, my co-"worker" came in at 9:15, chatted saying good morning till 10:15 which is when she went down for coffee, went for lunch at 11:45, came back at 1:15 and then left at 2:15. Oh, did I mention she is "full time". Sheesh. In the meantime, I finished another Harry Potter on my iPod and did an entire month reconciliation. I was just zooming. I love those kinds of days.
No exercise today except my weight class this morning. It was a good one. I worked really hard and was happy with my effort. Tomorrow I go walking with my walking group (and breakfast after) and then we are having a couple over for supper. BBQ cedar plank salmon, wild and brown rice, roasted asparagus and spinach salad. I even picked up veggies and dip for hors d'oeuvres. It will be a challenge to stay on plan, but I suppose I should give it a go.
That's about all I have for now. Hope you're all having a great healthy day.

Ugh!
Still struggling with my eating plan - frustration at an all time high.
Made it through another day without telling chatty loud young obnoxious co-workers to "shut the f*ck up".
Am completely hopped up on caffeine from the Starbucks Double Shot on ice I just consumed.
Am just watching SYTYCD that I tapped while out having the coffee - am tearing up already knowing for sure one of the really good guy dancers will end up going home. OMG!!!
UGH!!

I'm not dead!
Let's see. Did my weight training class Monday & Wednesday before work. Been working full days. Vegged Monday night. Last night did a fast 5.7k walk (well, fast for me). Tonight I did a good just over 11k walk with my walking group. I actually ran home which was just around 1.25k. It just poured rain on us. But that didn't stop us!
I was glad to start a new WW week today. Last week was disastrous. I was over by around...20pts. I am totally freaked out about being so close to my goal. Anyhow, moving on, moving on. Certainly being back at work for this little contract has been a challenge. I'm not used to having to "find" healthy alternatives. Hats off to the gals who are working often, or every day and making the plan work.
My puppy has been spending his days at a doggy spa daycare. He is so cute. He is completely spent by the time we pick him up because he doesn't stop the whole day. He gets so excited even when we drive up to the building. The ladies at the daycare just laugh at how hard he plays while he is there. He has been fast asleep on the couch since we brought him home at 5:30. He won't move now until we wake him up to pee before he goes in his kennel for the night.
I guess that's all I have for tonight. Hope you had a healthy day!

Weekend Update...Warning: snoozer ahead!
Who wants to hear what a food snob I am? When we walked in I was HORRIFIED to see that sister in law was feeding her family....KFC!!!!! I seriously felt like I had walked in on a scandal. They had a whole BUCKET of chicken, fries and two kinds of salads. We actually haven't eaten KFC since I was pregnant - some 16 years ago. I always say to husband, who eats that stuff? Well, I guess now I know! If we get fast food, it is almost always Subway, which we feel is the lesser of the evils. I know, I know, I need to get out more!
Anyhow, yesterday we went shopping to buy some new curtains for daughters two rooms. We were supposed to wash her walls yesterday, but didn't get to it. That is now on the agenda today. Yesterday we shopped, shopped and shopped some more. Then we napped (eye roll), made dinner and watched a DVD. 3/4 of the way through the movie, I tallied my day up and said to husband - I have to go for a walk (I needed the activity points) - so we actually paused the movie and I went on a 40 minute walk with the dog! He stayed home and played Wii. Groan!!
This morning I have already done a 7k walk with a friend over some really hilly terrain. Garmin says I burned 666 calories! Husband is watching some golf - he has also already golfed himself 9 holes. We are going to wash walls and see The Dark Knight this afternoon. I can't wait. I am going to have the children's package - the little drink and bit of popcorn. It is easy on the pocket book AND points! Plus, I'm such a loser - if I get a normal drink, I have to go to the bathroom DURING the movie!!
Not much else to report. Pork chops & corn on the cob for supper tonight. Yum. Last night, the reason I needed the activity points was because I went nuts and put butter on my corn. What a loser! Not tonight!!
Have a healthy day bloggers!

I'm on an Emotional Rollercoster.....
This morning, as we were stretching at the end of our class, personal trainer announced that she is leaving our club to go work full time at another club. I am devastated. I cry easily, so I couldn't even go over and congratulate her. I had to wait and e-mail her from home. Of course, I'm happy for her - she will be doing personal training full time at the other club and I have no doubt she will have great success. I'm just really worried that I will fall off the fitness wagon with this change. You all know, even from watching the Biggest Loser how different training styles can be. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh some more.
My lower back is still really bothering me. Golfing yesterday may not have been a great idea. I think it made it worse.
Oh, I have a story to tell about class this morning. One of the cardios we had to do was skipping. Which I hate. But for whatever reason this morning, on the first go through the station, on the 2nd set of cardio, I made it through a minute of skipping without slapping my arms with the rope, or tripping. So I said to personal trainer - did you see - I made it through the minute. She says - well, next go see if you can do 120 jumps cause that is around what you should be doing. Crap I think. Anyhow, next go through that station, the first attempt I do 80. Not bad she says, now you have a # to beat. The 2nd go - I did 109! I then tell her, I think I'm a goal person...so when I was at the next station, she gave me a goal # of step ups to get. I came just short (she said 35 in a minute, and I did 32) and she said that she had given me a really high number and that she was surprised I got that high.
Kate (http://fromflabtofit.blogspot.com/) had posted about how she needed a goal and I noticed this morning I do to. Even doing tricep dips for a minute. I was getting tired around 17 and then taking a break. After personal trainer gave me the step up goal, I gave myself a dip goal and I did way better (didn't stop until 24). So, from now on when I'm doing timed exercise, I'm going to give myself a rep # to get to also.
What else....hmm, not much. Daughter did in fact go through with the piercing. Looks cute. We are so different daughter and I. I have piercings, but I get quite nausious and dizzy when I'm getting it done, and don't even ask what happens when I have a new piercing that I have to turn. Daughter (who wants to be a surgeon) has a stomach of steel and didn't even flinch when it was done. Yeesh. I told her this morning though - no more piercings until she is an adult. I don't even want her asking. Mostly cause I have trouble saying no ;-)
Daughter leaves tonight for vacation for two weeks. She is going with my brother in law and his family. She goes every year. She has a ball. I sit home and mope. I hate her going cause I miss her so much, but I can't keep her home doing nothing. They have a vacation place and a boat and the kids are busy every day.
Well, I have laundry to finish before daughter can pack. Better get to it. I hate laundry.

Measurement Results
The zones are:
*Needs Improvement: your body composition falls within a range that is generally associated with considerable health risk
*Fair: your body composition falls within a range that is generally associated with some health risk
*Good: your body composition falls within a range that is generally associated with many health benefits
*Very Good: your body composition falls within a range that is generally associated with considerable health benefits
*Excellent: your body composition falls within a range that is generally associated with optimal health benefits.
Well, I'm happy to report that I fell into the VERY GOOD category! Yay me!! The down side to this is that trainer said it is very hard to move from Very Good to Excellent. I will try though.
Other stats: since January I've lost 16 lbs AND almost 10 inches.
The lamb, pork and rice dinner I served last night was a hit. I had planned on tacos, but couldn't go to the grocery store to get the ingredients, and so I had to just go with what I had in the house. My mom then told me she hated tacos. I said why didn't you tell me when I said that is what I would be making. She said, well, that would be rude and I thought you knew. I said well, um, if you never tell me when I serve it, how would I ever know? Sheesh!!! Anyhow - my mom had never had lamb and she liked it. Turns out I can't even stand the smell of it cooking, BUT daughter just loves it, so I'm happy to hold my breath!
On the agenda today....golf. Husband & I are going with another couple. I expect it will be a fun day. I have to take the dog for a walk this morning before I go because he will be in his kennel for quite a while today. Don't worry - I keep lots of water and toys in there for him.
Daughter is getting the top of her ear pierced today. Yuk. I couldn't do that.
Sounds like daughter is awake. I should get going with my day. Have a healthy one bloggers!!
2 pointing myself to death...
I start my days strong. Full of commitment and plans for fitness and health. I eat breakfast, then by the middle of the morning, actually, not long after I eat, I get...peckish...and then it starts. I need a snack, so I get something for two points or so. But, that doesn't do it. More 2 points or worse, I stay peckish till lunch where I overeat. Spend too many points. Of course the pattern repeats in the afternoon. By the time supper time hits, I have 3 or 4 points left. Which means I go over with dinner and then later in the evening, when all is lost and I'm over on points, I think "I'm over anyway...."
I've looked at the evidence. My food journal. I mean, what's the point of writing this shit down if you never look at it.
I read/heard two things yesterday that made me re-think my 2 point philosophy.
The first: I finally got around to watching last week's episode of X-Weighted. My good buddy Paul told the gals that were on the episode not to bother buying things that were full of whole grains, fibre, low cal, low fat, only 100 calories (2 pts anyone?) yada, yada. "These companies are not charged with caring about your nutritional needs. Along with a whole grain, are a bunch of additives and preservatives that the body doesn't need. Their job is just to sell a product." (That is likely not the EXACT quote, but you get the point) He went on to tell the gals to only buy food that was grown (fruits, veggies, meat). Never go down an aisle. Shop the perimeter.
The second: an e-mail I received from Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser). I get her daily mailings. I don't often read them, but this one seemed timely and topical for me. It was about grazing. Eating all day, lots and lots of little things. Mindless eating. Never paying attention to what is going into your body. Never paying attention to how you're feeling (are you hungry?). She called it constant indiscriminate eating. I've been doing that.
I have, of course, some 2 point foods. I will finish them, because, well, I can't afford to just throw food out and also, they are tasty treats! I will not, however, be replacing them. I am going to make an effort to shop the perimeter. I will still need to have a snack - that is just good sense - but it will now be a piece of fruit, or cheese, or almonds. Not something out of a box. And I am going to make an effort to identify the snack in my food journal. This should help make it a conscious decision and not just auto-pilot.
I am also going to use 2 flex points a day to cover one snack and 2 activity points a day to cover the other snack. With my daily points, I should be able to have 3 quality meals. This will give me some flex points to use for special occasions that come up. And it will keep me moving everyday - since I need to earn the two activity points.
Last night I wanted my family to go for a dog walk with me. No one would. I was mad. Fine, I said. We are going to be a family that just sits. You can just go husband volunteered. No thanks I said. I don't need another activity that I do on my own. We will just sit. No problem (of course, it was).
40 minutes later, I'm almost asleep on the couch from inactivity and husband says - let's pause Stargate and go for a walk. I smile and say great idea. Daughter of course, wouldn't go. But we did, for 40 minutes. I felt so much better after. I know he did also. Sheesh.
Class this morning was the same as Monday. A drencher.
I am waiting around today for a telephone repair dude. We can make calls but not receive any. What a pain. Can't tell me what time - just anytime today. Goodness.
Let's see. Oh, I have mom & her husband coming for supper tonight (lamb, pork & rice) and I have to go do a quick 20 walk with the Running Room. Fun times.
Have a healthy day bloggers!!

Clarification for Fatmom!!
Stampeeding.....well, The Calgary Stampede (http://calgarystampede.com/) comes to town the first Friday of July and runs for 10 days. What is interesting about the Stampede is that our city transforms into the Wild (and I mean WILD) West for the 10 days. Everyone wears western clothes, the parties start at 7:00 a.m. and run into the wee hours of the night. Local folk lore says that there is a high number of divorce after Stampede because everyone gets so out of control. I don't know how true that is, but certainly I've seen some stuff to suggest it might be. The city is quiet right now, since everyone is recuperating!! I'm not from here originally, and even though I have now been through 20 of them - I'm still amazed every time!

so much to say....
* Hellboy II - OMG - what a movie! I enjoyed it much more than the first movie - which I had enjoyed thoroughly!! It was funny and great story - and great monsters....The only thing I found distracting, and you'd have to be a Stargate Atlantis watcher to even potentially think this - was that the main "bad" guy looked quite similar to the Wraith. Husband said they were going to do a third movie- I can't wait!
* Cleaning bedroom - we finally got started on our spring cleaning. Husband & I took advantage of daughter being gone for the day and we cleaned our bedroom top to bottom. Two bags of stuff to throw out and two bags of clothes that we dropped off at the donation center. We washed walls. I found 5 new pairs of pants that I fit back into. Anything that didn't fit - too large OR too small - was either pitched or given away. All that is in my closet are things that I can wear. It felt so good. The next day we did the linen closet and top hallway.
* Work out Monday - OMG. That little brat trainer decided to add some cardio to the mix. It was so challenging and yet a hoot. I have to tell you all in excruciating detail, so feel free to skip if you're already nodding off!!
She set 4 stations up. We were to spend 4 minutes at each station and then move to the next one. We did the whole circuit twice.
First station: 1 min of squats on the bosu (3 squats then jump 45 degrees, then 3 more etc until you've gone around once and then reverse directions), 1 minute of step up and out on bosu (this is the cardio), 1 minute on your knees on bosu (feet off floor) doing hammer curls, then 1 minute of the cardio for that station again.
Second station: 1 minute of hamstring curls on stability ball, 1 minute of knee ups through a ladder on the floor and running (this is the cardio), 1 minute of reverse sit ups on stability ball and then 1 minute of the cardio for that station again.
Third station: 1 minute of reverse lunges on the gliders, 1 minute of skipping (this is the cardio), 1 minute of squats while pushing one leg back 45 degrees and then 1 minute of the cardio for that station again.
Fourth station: 1 minute of tricep dips off the step (with 5 risers), 1 minute of step ups on the step (this is the cardio), 1 minute of push ups and then 1 minute of the cardio for that station again.
Needless to say I was drenched by the time we were done. Of course, there were stomach exercises at the end. Sheesh. What is scary is that she always makes the Wed class harder - I can't help but wonder what she is going to add or do to us!!
Not much else to report. Still really struggling with staying on plan. I think, and this is really silly, but....I think I need to switch back to my old journal.
* Tim Horton - now I am a fiercely loyal Tims drinker. Every day, without fail, even on vacation, I go get my Tims. For the 2nd day in a row, they haven't had any X-large cups. WTF??? I was quite mad this morning. Like I mean PISSED. I didn't say anything to the gal serving me, but I did ask if it was going to go on much longer. I mean, really. Do you want a large she asks? Well FUCK no, I want an X-large. Ugh. So, now I'm sitting here with a lousy large. Sheesh. Husband thought it was so funny that I was so mad. I, was not amused.
* Blogger Quilt: While cleaning my bedroom, if you can believe it, I found the materials I wanted for my square. I'm just thinking about how best to put it together. I'm not a sewer at all, but worse, I'm not creative. Fear not! Something will come to me.....eventually!
Well bloggers, I should get to my day. I have some blog reading to do. I'm halfway through the Closer. OMG! I just love that show.
Have a healthy day!
