Freakin' OUT!!!!

First off, I had a ball golfing yesterday! I ended up doing my walk before I golfed, so it didn't matter that we took a cart. Unfortunately, a really bad rain storm came through around the 13th hole - it went away as soon as it came - but that broke my momentum, so my girlfriend & I just went back to the clubhouse!

So, I'm really starting to freak out about staying on plan on vacation. It is stressing me out. Where I am going - no one will try to get me to eat more than I want to, or make unhealthy choices. What is stressing me out is ME. What if I get there and just decide "screw it!"? Ugh! I really don't want to undo the little bit that I've done. Do you know yesterday I pulled a pair of pants out of the closet by accident, a pair that was too small - and I tried them on mostly thinking it would give me incentive to keep at it - and the friggin things fit! I haven't been able to wear them for well over a year. I don't want to come back to those pants not fitting again. And the worst part is, I know it is in MY control. I need to start my positive self-talk. I will stay on plan, I will stay on plan....blah, blah, blah!

not much Wednesday

Not much going on with me today. Husband read Harry Potter last night and I had the tv to myself. Of course, he put the book down for Big Brother. I am loving this season.

Did a 12k walk yesterday. My legs felt quite toned after that!

Am going golfing today with husband, one of his clients, and my former manager. Can't wait. Unfortunately, it is a big course, so we will be carting it - otherwise I would have received tons of activity points. Bummer. Big challenge for me today will be staying off the wine long enough to make a healthy dinner choice. Thankfully I start a new WW week today, so I have some flex pts available BUT I don't weigh in @ WW till tomorrow - so I have to be careful not to overdo it, cause as of today I'm 0.9 down! yay! I only know this because I had to weigh for my SparkPeople challenge.

I also have to remember to ask for extra trackers so that I can stay on program while I am on vacation. Tomorrow I am meeting my buddy early, we are walking to Starbucks and then to the meeting and then home. It will be a great time saver (walking will be out of the way) plus we will have our lattes for the meeting!

My daughter comes home tomorrow after two weeks away visiting husband's family. I can't wait - I miss her so much!!

Life after Harry.....

I'm going mad now that I'm done reading the book. I'm dying to talk to someone about it, but I don't have anyone to discuss it with. Husband just started last night, and everyone else I know isn't reading it. I can't stop thinking about it. There is a good chance my head will explode. I suppose if it does, I will show a loss for sure this week! HA!

Had a good day yesterday. Still trying to tweak my pedometer - I think I will just have to settle for close enough. Why do I have to be so anal about these things? Anyhow, the good news is, when I double checked my route with the vehicle, I found out I was walking .3 of a km more than I thought. Every little bit counts, right?

Am leaving in 20 minutes to meet my buddy for a walk. We are going to finally know how far we are walking (sort of) cause of my pedometer. Plus, this route has a Starbucks stop in it. Fun times.

That is really all I have going on. Have started making a list of things I need to remember/do for/before vacation. It is getting shockingly long. I'm not bringing a lot of clothes for vacay - I will just do a load of laundry while I'm away. I hate having to drag around a really heavy suitcase. Makes me cranky. Mind you, laundry makes me cranky also.....hmmmmmm.....

Harry Potter book finished - NO SPOILERS

All I'm going to say is I loved the book and I thought she did a great job with the story.

Let me tell you all about my story of GETTING the book. I had pre-ordered on-line for general delivery to the house, figuring I would just read it when I got it. Then Chapters sent an e-mail saying they had decided to deliver all the books on the release day - anywhere between 9:00 - 6:00. I, of course, then decided that I had to read it right away, cause I knew what day I was getting it. As you all know, I had a dinner party Saturday night starting at 6:00. Any guesses of when the book FINALLY showed up? 5:46!!!!! I waited all f*cking day - and then only had 14 minutes to read. I was sure I wouldn't get it at all. I told the delivery dude when I opened the door "I take back all the mean things I've been thinking about you all day". He tried to make small talk about my last name - but I was like "dude - I only have 14 minutes!" He told me they had 7,000 copies that they delivered on Saturday!

I read for the 14 minutes but by the time my company left, I'm sad to say I was too drunk to focus on the letters. I then had to devote my entire day yesterday to the book. Needless to say, I didn't get my walk in yesterday. It was a sacrifice I had to make! HAHA!

Anyhow, I have lots to do today since I did nothing yesterday but read. Have a healthy day bloggers!

Pedometer, WW & Harry Potter

As I suspected, I had set up the pedometer incorrectly. I did my walk with it yesterday, and while the step count was what I expected, the miles readout was a mile off! Husband helped me measure last night, and I will try again today.

So, Big Brother last night? Classic! I can't wait to see Sunday's show when they show Kail's reaction to the fact that her alliance didn't vote her way! And how classic is it that Evil is now HOH? Do I smell Kail & Jen on the block?

Another good points day yesterday. 20 target pts eaten, 0 flex & 4 activity pts earned and not eaten. Calorie count on SP - only just over 1,000. Does that seem really low to anyone? I may have to add 3 flex pts per day to my plans. I'm exercising around 270 calories a day. I just don't think 800 calories a day is a) healthy and b) sustainable. I want to be able to do this for the rest of my life, not just a month or 5.....Does this make sense to anyone else, or am I just justifying eating more food?

I was doing my daily cruise of the net, catching up on celeb gossip, and I noticed a post out there talking about a Harry Potter leak. My friends, I will have to start my media ban early. This will now be my last post until I'm done reading HP.

So, stay healthy, stay on plan.....hope to be back Monday at the latest!

PS: Huge shout out to the skinny minnies who lost an obscene amount of weight this week collectively. Yay team!!

New Pedometer!

Husband took me pedometer shopping last night, just for something to do. He took me to the Tech Shop, instead of the Running Room. And I found the rockingist pedometer ever! And what a screaming deal. Only $35!

I bought a Walking Advantage Sportline. It measures distance, steps and calories. It flips between metric & imperial (important feature for Canadians my age who were raised when the country was switching systems - I like to know how many km I walked, but how many miles an hour I did it in - silly, eh?). Oh, and the best part is that it can flip up while I'm walking and the display turns upside down so I can read it without taking it off.

I'm quite excited to get out there today and try it. Of course, I tried setting the stride myself - I had it all done, and then I realized how off my math was (sheesh) so I think I have it set correctly now. I've driven my loop, so I know what the distance should read....if it's off by lots, I will have husband measure it out for me tonight. Since he is a surveyor, he is good with distance!

I stayed within my points yesterday. Ate 20 target pts, 2 flex. Exercised 4 pts that I didn't eat. That brings me to a net of 18 pts which is the lowest I should eat at my weight. Now I just have to do that again today.

working through the pain

You'll all be relieved to hear that I am almost healed. Even with my pulled muscle I went for my walk yesterday and today.

Yesterday I did a very, very slow walk to the top of my loop and then added my running, and my muscle was killing me......

Today I just did a brisk walk the whole loop, and by the end of the walk, I had worked out the kink. No more sore muscle! Just the dull ache that is left after an injury. Yay!

It is so humid out there. I would have run today, but I was doing the loop clockwise today, and the hill that I would have had to run down was too steep for my knees. So, since I want to get back into switching the direction I go in everyday, I have decided that I will only add running on the days I go counterclockwise. This will give my knees a rest, and on the clockwise days, I can work on my walking speed.

Let's see. Oh, here is some big news on how silly I can be. I have agreed to host a dinner party on Saturday. You know. THE DAY that Harry Potter comes out. THE DAY that I have vowed to spend reading since I heard what day it was coming out. THE DAY that I vowed to have zero interaction with anyone so that I would not fall pray to nasty people looking to spoil the ending. I'm in quite a state about it. I'm quite sure the couple that is coming over are not HP readers, so I should be ok.....but do you all realize how many hours of reading I'm going to miss out on?

Meanwhile, I just made myself the best grilled cheese sandwich ever. Two slices of WW Whole Wheat Bread and one slice of Havarti Cheese and two quick sprays of cooking spray (the oil kind). Yum, yum, yum. I'm having a great eating day today I have decided. I had a lovely tofu/curry scramble for breakfast today with some butternut squash. Life is good.

Oh, and I sent in my official weigh in for the Skinny Minnies. I stayed the same this week. Sorry team!!

worst way to pull a muscle ever

So, we have a sectional couch that has recliners. Yesterday I was having trouble pushing mine back in and I think I pulled a muscle right by my sitz bone. I woke up this morning and I could hardly even walk to the bathroom. Husband thinks it is the type of injury that needs working out, so I'm going to try to do my walk....but.....what a goon I am. Who pulls a muscle on a freakin recliner???

I go back to WW today. I'm excited. I'm also planning right now to continue tracking during my vacation.

We went and saw the Bruce Willis Die Hard movie. Except for the one stunt with the truck and fighter plane I loved it. I really like Bruce Willis. And he is still yummy. And the young guy from the Mac commercials....he was great and quite funny.

I added some running to my walk yesterday. It felt good, but I'm a slow runner because it didn't improve my time much for the route. Could be that I was walking slower though, because of the humidity. Anyway, it is a start.

Did well eating yesterday. It was so hot that we didn't eat dinner, so I was able to accommodate the kids size popcorn. Woohoo!!

Semi non-scale victory

Quick post, but I thought I would share this:

Had mom & her husband for dinner yesterday. They were spending the night, so, when it FINALLY started to cool off around 8 in the evening (down to 27!) I told everyone that I was going for my walk. And then I did. Felt good to get it done. And the best part was, even though I was gone for an hour, they didn't even notice. My mom saw me come back and she asked, oh, are you just leaving? Sheesh.

Anyhow, good for me! Of course, I didn't eat great (but honestly, not THAT bad either), but I got my walk in.

Who needs to walk a 1/2 Marathon to have sore feet?

I am way sorer (is that a word?) today than I was the day after the 1/2 marathon! WTF??? I think it was walking in that HEAT.

We had a ball at the rodeo - I'm still surprised at how much fun I have going. And thankfully, 1/2 hour into the rodeo, our seats were in the shade. Phew!

There were so many people - I found walking around the grounds overwhelming. Husband & I left for a bit and walked around downtown while daughter and her friend went on the rides. It was a really fun day.

Today I have lunch with my former boss - I can't wait!! We always have such gooooood visits.

Well, I'm off to obsess about how sore my feet are!

Harry Potter....I love you!

No, I'm not in love with a 17 year old - just the movies!!!

I'm happy to report that the newest HP film is AWESOME! I loved it. Of course, there was tons that didn't make it to the big screen, but it was so well done. And I'm happy to report that Harry had his hair cut since the last movie.

The best part of the whole experience was that I ended up ordering the kiddie pack popcorn! An over-indulgence, to be sure, but not nearly as much as what I was going to order!

Didn't walk yesterday. My feet are sore and they needed a break. The source of my sore toes made itself evident yesterday - bruises showed up on both my big toes, under my nails. Guess it's official, my toes were jamming up against my shoes. :-(

Today I won't be doing an official walk since I'm going to the Rodeo at the Stampede today!!! That will require much walking, and with my sore feet......

So, my plan for eating today, since I will be surrounded by shit on the grounds, will be to find the healthiest option and failing finding one of those - to keep my calories down. I'm going to look up how much a hamburger is. I will have to keep up with my water intake because it is supposed to go up to 30 today!

So, my team name for the SparkPeople 12 week challenge is: The Skinnie Minnies. How funny! Does any one out there remember Skinny Minny Miller from the roller derby Like a million years ago? Anyhow, I was a huge fan of hers, so it seems fitting that I ended up on that team. The other team is...Fit an Fabulous? Something like that. Anyhow - seems like a fun bunch of gals. Should be good times!

Well bloggers - have a healthy, happy day!

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!

Way too excited to post - I see Harry Potter in 3 hours!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Living through the day after the day after

Well, here we are, the day after the day after. My toes really, really hurt today! Silly, eh? Let's recap:

Yesterday I had a dental appt. My dentist is really nice, but gosh, I just hate the whole thing. Well, I had something happen that had never happened before. I just about pulled his hand away WHILE he was freezing me! Yikes. Anyhow, I made it through the work, and ended up with a really bad headache.

Fast forward to later in the afternoon - headache is now monumental....I get up off the couch long enough to down a handful of Advil and then go lay down again. This is now officially the laziest day I've ever had. I think, before dozing off, heck, I walked 22k yesterday, I can be a blob with my headache.

Finally, around 8:00, my headache was gone. So, I got changed and went for my walk. Did I tell you all about the skirt I bought? It is a running skirt, with the shorts underneath? So pretty. Anyhow, I wore that. I went for my walk feeling like a million bucks.

All of this is to say that my toes must have been jamming up against my runner during the race, and then when I went for my walk last night, it irritated them. This morning, I had to wear my crocks thongs to coffee. Couldn't even stand my socks on. Hmmm. Bummer

Had a good day food wise. Just on my way to update SparkPeople - I just couldn't read yesterday.

Have a healthy day bloggers!!

3:30:29

What a cryptic title....

Bloggers - that is my time for my half marathon! Not stellar, I know - BUT I didn't come in last - although even the person who came in last still finished! I came in 2051 out of 2102. Lots of room for improvement next year.

The race was so well run- I'm still just so impressed. Simultaneously, they had the following events running: Tim Bits run for tykes, 5k run, 10k run, 22k walk, 22k run, 44k walk, 44k run. And it was so smooth. The route was so well marked, and there were people all along cheering us on. Oh, and the best part was that they announced my name and time as I finished the race over the speaker! I felt so special. Then my walking buddy called to say that we had been on the news going over the finish line, but I missed it.

Anyhow, after the race, we had a snack provided by the race people, then went for a lovely brunch (where I just had one luscious plate - yay me!), then back to other walking buddies house for massages!

When I got home, I had left husband and daughter (who had a great day together) in charge of supper. He ordered in Swiss Chalet. I completely indulged and enjoyed my meal. I will be back to updating SparkPeople today with healthier choices!

So, bloggers, it was an awesome day! And I'm happy to report that I can walk today....thank goodness - cause I have to go to the freakin dentist to have a filling fixed!!

Have a healthy day bloggers!

PS: Big shout out to Tigerlilly who lost 5 lbs this week! Woohooo!!!!!!!

PPS: Fatmom - if you're still reading blogs.....I miss yours!

Rain

Rain is now expected for my race day! I think my saving grace will be that we start walking at 7 a.m., and the rain likely won't happen till later in the day. I hope!

Not up to much. Didn't have a good eating day yesterday.

Who watched Big Brother last night? I enjoyed it - as I always do. I was on the net today looking for John Powell's coverage of the 24/7 feeds - but he might not be doing it this year? That will change the experience for me a ton.....he's a good writer and his coverage was fun.

I won't be doing JC after this week - just didn't fit into our budget as well as I thought it would. I had a good talk with husband about it though. He is so sweet he made me cry. I thought our grocery bill might go down with me eating JC food, but it stayed the same. We just don't have the extra dough right now to add on $100+ per week. At least I'm down some good poundage though.

I've been using Sparkpeople throughout, so if I keep updating my food....I really like Sparkpeople - they have so many interesting articles and stuff. Next week, my walking partner said she would go up to the club with me to do weights. This will get me over my hurdle and then I should be good to go.

I'm thinking of getting myself a heart monitor for my walking so I can get an accurate calorie count. I will have to start pricing them out. My walking partner uses one, so I go by her count, but...it would probably be better to have my own.

I'm quite surprised at how much I've come to look forward to my walks. I don't feel any sense of dread at all at going out. It is likely due to the iPod audiobooks. But still, I like getting my arms pumping (which ultimately leads to my heart pumping!) - even though I'm sure I look like an idiot!

Today I am continuing with my effort to get all 8 glasses of water in. I slept better last night. Don't know if it was from the increased water intake or what, but.....it is going to be hot again today....I'm going to drink 250ml before I eat anything all day today. That will cause me to pause before I munch....plus I will be more aware of how often I'm eating!

So, for breakfast this morning, I'm thinking my Activia Low Fat Peach yogurt with a banana. MMMM, that sounds yummy!

Well, bloggers, I guess I've blathered on enough...this ended up longer than I thought....have a healthy day!

Crap

Right now it looks like I'm up a pound. Don't ask why I stepped on the scale. But I did. I've been tracking everything, and my calories have been good. Any non-Jenny meals have kept me within my calorie range. WTF????? I think I will have to make an effort to up my water. Maybe I'm retaining. We have actually had some hot weather (well, hot for where I live), so I likely should have upped it anyhow.

Well, I'm off to obsess. I have my iPod all loaded with my latest purchase - Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix! My walk will be fun today for sure!!

Have a healthy day bloggers!

Canada Day Weekend Wrap Up

Well, we had a nice weekend. I have to apologize for my lack of posts - husband has been ripping our cd's onto the computer - and so I haven't been able to get on. Especially to blog - since he hates that I do this. Sheesh

So, we went to the game Saturday night, and the friends that we invited along - the husband was in a BAD mood and they ended up kinda having an incident - he got mad at his wife and threw a beer can at her - which it turned out wasn't empty! Seriously!! I felt so bad for her. Had that happened to me - I would have left just because I would have been so mortified! Yikes!

Food wise - I did well. Alcohol wise....well - that wine was calling.....

I'm back on plan - no extras for me this week. I really want to loose 1.5 lbs this week. I've been doing my hourly walk every day. I really need to get going with the weights - but just haven't been able to work the nerves up to go into the gym....what is that about??? Frig!! I'm going to drag daughter up there with me this week to get over my hurdle. Maybe that will work.

So, this Sunday is my big walk. We are walking, then doing brunch, and then I think having a massage. Husband asked if I wanted him & daughter to come down to stand on the route at all. I said no, but am now thinking....that might be kinda nice. I have to think about that.

Anyone out there watching Big Love? Last night's episode was so good - I'm still thinking about it. Even husband thought it was good.

So, this week my guiltiest pleasure starts - Big Brother. I can't WAIT!!!!!

Have a healthy day bloggers!
