Butternut Squash Lasagne

I have a problem. I just went in my freezer and found some leftover butternut squash lasagne. Which I promptly had for breakfast. Which was so tasty, it might be the best lasagne I've ever made. My problem? I can't remember what prompted me to make this recipe, or where I would have had the recipe from. Crap. I hate when I do that!

The sun is back out! I am one of those people who is greatly affected by cloud cover. If I don't have access to sunshine I get really down. Luckily, while the climate where I live gets REALLY cold, we hardly ever don't have sunshine. Except for the past few days. I feel like I've just woken up from a long nap with all the sunshine streaming in now.

Indiana (the new pup) slept through the night again last night. I guess the breeder had been very diligent with her training before we got him. I officially love that woman!

My family has grown...

by one awesome, lovely, precious little puppy. His name is Indiana, born June 29. He is a miniature schnauzer. Please feel free to leave lots of comments about how gorgeous he is!!

I am, of course, completely exhausted. He was up every couple hours last night. So, there I was, in my housecoat in the rain! What a sight I'm sure I was. Daughter had a sleepover, so I had to take him out front. Then, when he was done his business, I had to play with him for a bit. Meanwhile, I discovered that my weekend paper gets delivered at 3:30 in the morning. Who knew?
I haven't exercised in a few days, just too excited/busy with pup. I will get back to it tomorrow though. Can't stop living. Guess what though. I found a leather bound book that I had been keeping track of meals/workout in from 2003! What interesting reading. I had forgotten that I was lifting weights so regularly. I think I was following Body for Life. Gosh, what program haven't I tried?

C25K..

I went to the gym last night, after Big Brother (good bye Jen) and did week 3 of C25K....which is where I left off in May!! I was on such a high after that I felt like I could take on anything. Husband & I are going to the gym tonight again. Daughter jammed out last night, but tonight I think I will use my parental power to have her come. We only do cardio - the C25K is only 30 minutes. She can do the elliptical.

I had a good day eating yesterday. Healthy choices.

Eh, I don't really have much else. Have a healthy day bloggers!

A stop and think moment.....

Part of my vacation was spent with my sister. She lives quite far away, so I only get to see her once or twice a year. Anyhow, we are quite different in just about every way. We are very close though. So, we are having tea one morning and I was reading my latest murder mystery find from Chapters (from the sale bin, I like to try new authors, but only when I can pay $4.99!) and she was at the desk reading a printout of some sort, like an article.

I asked if she was reading for pleasure or for work. She works for the government and has a lot of work related reading to do. I've never actually seen her read a book that was just fiction. She is always reading some article or another. Anyhow, she gave me a rather odd look. And then she said, well, it's work, but also pleasure because I'm interested in it. I said Oh, and went back to my mystery novel.

It was later in the day that I thought back to this. She has always had a job that is her passion. I have never had a job where I would have to read something and not consider it "work". Never. It would never occur to me that anything at work would be interesting. It was always just a means to an end. My sister on the other hand.....she really likes what she does. Thinking back, she must not have understood my question, since for her the two choices are not mutually exclusive.

All of this to say: I need to find my passion. What an eye opener. Where/how does one find their passion?

I SO HEART JASON BOURNE

Well, husband & I finally saw the new Bourne movie. I loved it, loved it, loved it. I'm not crazy about this new method of filming though - like some guy is just walking around with the camera on his shoulder - my husband did a better job videoing on our vacation....I got dizzy a couple of times and had to look away. MMMM, I love going to a movie and loving it so much that I can't wait to buy it. Matt Damon is an awesome action actor.

I just made the yummiest soup for supper. Borscht. Husband loves it....and it turns out so do daughter & I!

Speaking of daughter, she came to the gym with me this a.m. I "hit" the weights. I expect I won't be able to walk tomorrow!

The family that exercises together....

sweats together!

When I returned home Sunday (one week after husband came home), husband announced that play time was over and that he was going to start exercising pronto. Then daughter calls from her friends house yesterday in the afternoon asking to go to our club in the evening.

Since the stars are obviously aligned, after dinner I ensure husband makes good on his announcement (although in retrospect, I should have also bought a lotto ticket!). He laughed when I asked what time we were going to the gym. So, off we all toodle. Daughter brings a buddy. They do the elliptical and ball/machine work, I do elevations on the treadmill and husband does laps in the pool and then the steam room. I am one happy camper.

Till I get home and update my food journal. What sucks as much as the weight I gained on vacay (which I think will be substantial - I weigh officially tomorrow) is getting my portions back into control. And realizing that beer is a point sucker. I used 11.5 flex points and 6 of them were beer! Stupid. 6 points is almost what I spent on my freakin supper. Sheesh. It takes months and months to learn a new habit and exactly 3 weeks to loose it!

Have a healthy day bloggers!

PS: Getting closer to getting my puppy. Endless hours spent over vacay picking out the PERFECT names. Stay tuned!

PPS: Dog names are like baby names - I will not be telling till I post the picture of the pup - and then you will all be compelled to think it is the best name ever - HA!! (and of course it will be the cutest pup ever also!)

How to tell when you've had a good vacation....

You find yourself wondering what your username & password is when you try to log onto blogger!!!

I had the best vacation. I got to see tons of both family and friends. Feels good to be home though.

On the eating front.....UGH! That is all I'm going to say about that!

Anyhow friends, I'm off to catch up on your blogs.
