37:50 Baby!!

I'm just back from my Policeman 5K Run & Walk race! We did so awesome! We were EXACTLY one minute slower for this 5k than the last one we ran in December (the Santa Shuffle). Why am I happy then? Well, I'll tell you. I'm happy because we hadn't been training like the last time and we still kicked butt AND we ran 5:1's instead of 10:1's, which is a whole bunch of walking more AND still we were only one minute slower. This is good news people!

Oh, and if that wasn't awesome enough - I earned 5 activity points!

We met our other friend at Starbucks and had a nice latte and some good girl talk.

Yesterday I had an incident which led to a moment of self-realisation. I think I've known this about myself, but I didn't realise how bad it was. I had two slices of pizza that left me feeling stuffed. This stuffed feeling led me to my binge thinking (you know "now I've blown it, I'm going to drink that bottle of wine and munch my face off"). Well, I stopped myself, got up and grabbed my journal and food companion - instead of the wine, wrote everything down, tallied everything up and realised that in fact I had blown nothing and was simply over-full from the second slice of pizza. I was still on program. No need to sabotage my self. And I didn't! Which is good, cause my race was at 8:30 this morning, and a bottle of wine would have made for a LONG run!!

Anyhow, now that I know this is a trigger for me, I may find it a smiggen easier to manage a binge. Dare I even think I may be able to just stop them before they start?

We have watched quite a few movies lately. Game Plan with the Rock which was quite cute in a Disney way. Good family fun. Lars and the Real Girl which was surprisingly good. Both husband & I enjoyed it. Shrek the Third - always good fun! Oh, and we watched Georgia Rule on the movie channel with Lindsay Lohan which I really enjoyed. I have the Jane Austin Book Club still to watch. Everyone is out of the house, I may put it on after I hit the post button.

Well, tomorrow Carolyn's challenge starts. Yikes. I'm going to aim for 8 lbs in 8 weeks WHILE following good healthy guidelines. I almost never get any of the GHG in.

Have a healthy rest of the day!

  1. Way to go on the run! That's awesome. I love running races with friends. Sadly right now all my friends are faster than me but oh well!

BTW. There was a race in my town with the exact same name as yours. Coincidence? I think not. I think we are neighbors :)

  3. OK, I ran today, so that means we will be seeing a bike riding blog entry from you later today right? Gotta bike while the biking is good. Rain and snow in the forecast...

  4. re: your comment on my blog

"CRAP!!!" = no cycling I'm guessing? :) Forecast says Friday is back to sunny.

Also to answer your question the personal trainer comes to my house so if we go running we go outside in my neighborhood and we both run. Most workouts we don't run because I have at least 1 kid at home with me (and I don't want to run pushing a stroller). I work part time to be able to have the trainer. Girls gotta have her priorities ya know! :)
