It is a balmy -16 with the wind chill today. And April 21. And it is snowing again. Crap.
So, went to the gym yesterday afternoon to do weights. Walked in and it was friggen PACKED. I guess everyone was trying to escape the cold. I just about turned right around and when home, BUT I didn't! I found the closest thing to a quiet spot near the mirror, put my audio book on my iPod and away I went.
I figured out a better way to do my weights. I grouped them up in pairs and then did one set of the first one, one set of the second and so on till I was done the 3 sets, then moved on the the next pair. I noticed that this was how my personal trainer breaks up the exercises, and that fatigues the muscles more than what I was doing, which was one set of all 6 exercises and then start over again. Unfortunately, this worked so well that I can hardly walk today - there were front lunges, reverse lunges and squats that were all very effective doing it this way!! I've never been more aware of my hamstrings or glutes!!
Today...I have to, have to, have to practice my whip kick! I may do the elliptical also....we will see how I feel after the swim....or I guess I should do the elliptical before I swim...duh!
So, many folks are shooting for a "perfect on program" day today - doesn't matter what program.....I decided to jump on the bandwagon!
I have had my milk products, one healthy oil, & one veggie ( I know that is weird for this early in the a.m., but I had left over whole wheat spaghetti for breakfast..mmmm!). I may make one perfect day part of every week......the day before weigh in???
Oh, good news! I have a 5k race to run on Sunday. The gal I had signed up with had cancelled due to a prior commitment she had forgotten about....WELL....that was moved due to the extreme winter weather (it was a golf commitment) and now she is running with me! I am SO happy!!!!!!!!!!! I was going to do it alone, but I'd much rather have company. I have signed up for a 10k alone in July, but I don't mind that because I'm planning to run alone. Different frame of mind - does that make sense to anyone but me?
Have a healthy day bloggers!!
