Is that your oven on fire, or are you just happy to see me?

It is my mom's husband's birthday and he has a real sweet tooth. I thought I would make him the sweetest desert I know - Pudding au Chaumeur. I have never made this before but, really, how wrong could it go?

Well, the 4 cups of sugar water that the recipe calls for spilled over. Of course, I thought this MIGHT happen, but didn't think far enough ahead to put a pan under the dish. So, it spilled, big time. I finished cooking the pudding, turned the oven off, and didn't really give it much more thought, until I put the oven on to cook the garlic toast. When I did that, the stuff on the bottom of the over caught fire and I had open flames in the bottom of my oven! What a panic!! Once I got the fire out, I had to run out to buy special oven cleaner for self clean ovens so that I could get as much debris off the bottom as I could so that I could run the self clean option (I had to spray the oven 3 times!). What a schmozel. Thankfully my mom's husband enjoyed the effort and the desert!!

Today I went for a walk with my girlfriends. 465 calories worth of a walk. I feel like I'm on top of the world! We have decided that we are going to register for Melisa's in the fall and spend the night in Banff. Fun times! Some of the gals are going to walk, but at least two of us are going to run.

Hope my fellow Albertans are enjoying their family day. I haven't seen mine that much today because I was walking and now daughter is at the mall.

Have a healthy day bloggers!!

  1. Hehehehe... sounds like you pulled a Tigerlilly!! I'm well known in my family for starting stove fires!! Luckily I have also learned how to put them all out safely! Glad he loved all that effort!

    Have a great day!
